Roanoke Region Cited for Low Cost of Living |
|
Roanoke is the lowest cost metro in Virginia and among the top 30 metros in the country when it comes to a low cost of living. Costs are around 11% lower than the national average, according to the Council for Community and Economic Research. The region's low cost of living can be attributed mainly to lower food, transportation, health care and housing costs. |

Roanoke Region Earns Multiple Honors |
|
Roanoke City recently earned its sixth All-America City honor. Roanoke was one of only 14 communities recognized this year and is the only city in the nation to have earned the honor 6 times. AARP cited Roanoke as one of the 10 Best Places to Live on $100 a day. Roanoke was cited for its "pleasant climate, its 2 miles of walkable/bikeable greenways and the spectacular backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains." Roanoke County and Franklin County each placed in the top 10 in the Annual Digital Counties Survey for communities with a population of less than 150,000. Thanks to the Roanoke Regional Partnership for reminding us of the many attributes of our region. |
