|How to Join RVAR|
For the new real estate licensee, joining RVAR includes joining the Virginia Association of REALTORS (VAR) and the National Association of REALTORS (NAR). It is membership with the National Association of REALTORS that designates a licensee as a REALTOR. You may contact the RVAR office to schedule a new member appointment.
Becoming a real estate salesperson licensee:
Enroll in one of the Principles of Real Estate schools listed below. As a student, you will be trained for the purpose of taking the state licensing exam for a real estate salesperson. For those who pass the final exam at the school, additional guidance will be provided by the school for taking the state real estate salesperson exam. Once you pass the state exam, the state of Virginia will hold your license. Only a real estate firm (the designated broker) can receive from the state and hold your real estate license. The salesperson will never possess the license.
Once the state of Virginia has your license, what next?
Your license will be held by the state awaiting its transfer to the broker of your choice. If you have not already been interviewed by a broker or brokers, now is the time to begin the interviews.
Once there is an agreement between you and a specific broker, then the broker will have your license transferred to that real estate firm, and you will become an agent to that broker. Now it is time to schedule a new member appointment with RVAR.
Your new member appointment with RVAR:
In addition to receiving your payment for RVAR, VAR, and NAR dues, RVAR will add you to the National Realtor Database System, open your account with the MLS system, and provide you with a new member packet.
